#1 TIP: Do a test recording
before recording a session, ensure the players AND Game Master
voices are captured
General Tips
- Consider having a backup recording method or multiple participants record
- Background music is fine as long as it doesn't drown out participants
- Currently, a single session must be a single audio file. Consider one long recording or combining multiple recordings beforehand
- MP3 isthe tool's preferred audio format, though all common audio formats will work.
In-Person Recording
Suggested Tools
- iPhone: Voice Memos app (preinstalled)
- Android: Easy Voice Recorder or MyRecorder
Tips
- Set your device on something soft or elevate to reduce table vibrations and/or dice-rolling sound
- Set your recording app to use the highest quality audio settings available
- Turn on airplane mode to prevent interruptions from calls or notifications
- Ensure your device is fully charged or connected to a power bank
- Check that you have enough free storage for the entire session
Online Recording
Suggested Tools
- Windows: OBS Studio, setup to capture audio and microphone
- Discord: Craig bot, free and easy. When downloading your audio, use the "Single-track mixed" FLAC format
Tips
- Ensure all participants are using headphones to prevent echo
- Ask participants to mute themselves when not speaking to reduce background noise
- If possible, have each participant record audio as a backup
